Novacorp is committed to maintaining our clients’ real estate asset as if they were our own, ensuring the long-term viability of each project. Our objective is to provide the owners, tenants, and user groups of the facilities under management with a clean and safe environment, and maintaining the capital equipment (physical and plant machinery) by implementing planned preventative maintenance schedules in a manner that is not disruptive to the tenants and user groups.

It is our intent to ensure the quality of life enjoyed by the tenants and user groups is above what is normally expected for comparable facilities, that health and safety issues are properly addressed as they arise, and that the Owner is kept informed of any issue arising that may affect the return on investment, owner’s liability, or public perception.

  • Jim Todd
    CEO

    Jim is a seasoned real estate veteran with an eye for detail and a practical approach to property management. In addition to his executive duties, Jim coordinates the Project Management division, responsible for overseeing capital projects and facilities management.

    Jim’s intimate knowledge of the real estate industry was acquired by progressively taking on more responsible positions with a number of large property management companies prior to forming his own company in 1980, Fencorp Properties Limited. Prior to the sale of Fencorp in 1997, Fencorp had grown to become Atlantic Canada’s largest third-party real estate management company. The company managed a diverse portfolio worth in excess of $350 million, consisting of 2.5 million square feet of office, retail, and industrial properties, over 4,000 multi-unit residential suites located within the four Atlantic Provinces, and four hotel/inns. The company maintained in-house leasing staff for the commercial division and brokered the sale of all manner of commercial real estate, including office, retail, industrial, and multi-unit residential properties.

    Jim’s well rounded background includes years of experience in maintenance, project management, budgeting, leasing, real estate brokerage, accounting, detailed evaluations, and foreclosure/ receivership management.

    In September 2000, Jim co-founded Novacorp Properties Limited. Novacorp currently manages a robust portfolio of institutional, commercial and multi-unit residential properties valued in excess of $150 million.

  • Brian Lugar
    President

    Brian looks after the day-to-day operations of the company, spearheads the brokerage and consulting division (Novacorp Realty), and coordinates business development. With over two decades of experience in commercial real estate development, real estate brokerage, and the property management industry, Brian brings a wealth of real estate experience and expertise to the team.

    In addition to his administrative duties, Brian’s responsibilities include:

    • Commercial and Retail Leasing
    • Acquisition/Disposition of Investment Real Estate
    • Facility and Asset Management, Property Management
    • Advertising and Promotions

    Since 1984, Brian has had extensive experience in all facets of real estate management, development and leasing. Prior to co-founding Novacorp Properties, Brian was responsible, as General Manager / Broker, for regional operations of a large multi-national publicly traded real estate company with a regional portfolio under management worth in excess of $350 million.

    Brian has appeared at Nova Scotia Utility Review Board hearings as an expert witness, served a ten year appointment to the board of the Province of Nova Scotia Waterfront Development Corporation (mandated to develop waterfront properties surrounding Halifax Harbour) and served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (NS-PEI Division) and was Chair and a trustee of CNIB’s CaterPlan Trust.

    Brian is currently President and Director of Novacorp Properties Limited, Managing Broker of Novacorp Realty and Vice President of Nova Learning Inc., owners & operators of nine educational facilities developed under the Province of Nova Scotia’s public/private initiative.

  • Josh McKenzie Novacorp

    Josh McKenzie
    Director of Property Management

    Josh’s real estate career spans over twenty years. He has extensive experience in the management and operations of all real estate asset types.  He has managed properties throughout Atlantic Canada, in Montreal, and Alberta, working on behalf of large institutional clients and for individual owners.

    He is responsible for overseeing the property management division at Novacorp, having direct responsibility for management of a commercial portfolio for an institutional client.

    Josh is a licensed real estate salesperson and represents Landlords in tenant leasing renewals as well as acquisition and disposition of commercial properties.

    Colleen Hynes
    Property Manager

    Colleen Hynes has over 25 years of experience working in the property management industry. Her experience includes financial reporting, audit preparation, full cycle accounting, office, retail and residential management working for investors as well as directly for individual owners. Colleen takes great pride in building strong professional relationships and strives to maintain a motivated team that provides a high service level to clients.

    Colleen a graduate of Nova Scotia Community College, with a diploma in Business Administration. Following her graduation, Colleen began as an entry level accounting clerk and received promotions over the subsequent 10 years to assume a management position for a retail, office, parking and condominium complex. Colleen recently returned to Nova Scotia after managing a diverse portfolio of Strata Corporations for Pacific Quorum, one of British Columbia’s leading property management companies.

    John Orr
    Property Manager

    John has been involved in property management for over fifteen years. He has extensive knowledge of buildings and their systems stemming from a career managing a diverse portfolio of properties throughout Atlantic Canada, including industrial, commercial, office and retail complexes.

    John has an extensive knowledge of service and maintenance protocols, contract administration, Worker’s Compensation and Labour Safety Standards, Condominium By-Laws and Declarations and is an invaluable resource for Corporation Boards.

  • Don Wambolt Novacorp

    Don Wambolt
    Property Manager

    Don Wambolt is an experienced residential property manager having been involved in all aspects of property management since 2006.

    Prior to joining Novacorp Properties, Don was responsible as Co-Owner and General Manager of a property management company specializing in management of a diverse residential portfolio owned by local and European investors. Don possesses a diverse and well-rounded knowledge, with the capability of handling multiple tasks in a stressful environment.

    Don has also had extensive experience in the hospitality/food service industry in ever increasing roles of responsibility, culminating in the management of several food establishments. He also has worked in the insurance industry as a Licensed Broker, responsible for both personal and commercial policies.

    This well-rounded background has provided Don with years of experience in property maintenance, customer service, contract administration, project management, leasing, accounting, budgeting, and undertaking detailed property evaluations.

  • Kevin Deverill
    Property Manager

    Kevin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Novacorp Team working in both Property Management and the Construction Industry for over 25 years. Kevin has extensive knowledge of buildings, mechanical systems and implementing preventative maintenance programs stemming from a career working on behalf of both residential and condominium properties in Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Europe.

    Kevin has exceptional communication skills and is able to manage multiple deadlines while ensuring a high level of customer service. He is an experienced property manager, construction supervisor and project manager with extensive knoweledge of WHMIS, Occupational Health & Safety legislation and Condominium By-Laws and Declarations.

    Team work and great communication is something Kevin promotes strongly to benefit Novacorp's clients.

    Lisa Peeples
    Controller/Senior Property Accountant

    Lisa is the Controller of Novacorp Properties Limited and is responsible for the overall accounting and financial reporting for the company and related entities. She has a background in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the Nova Scotia Community College. Lisa is enrolled in the CGA program and Bachelor of Commerce program through Laurentian University. Lisa has extensive experience in the real estate industry, having worked for Novacorp Properties since 2003.
